Engage Africa NLP is dedicated to advancing NLP and foster language and tech inclusion for African languages, with a focus on Cameroonian languages since there are as many as to 3000 languages in Africa.
Our Mission
Engage Africa NLP aims to help with the development and integration of African languages into the global digital landscape. We are interested in the preservation, modernization, and cultural representation of African languages in the rapidly evolving world of technology.
Key Features of the Program
Research and Development: Fostering extensive research in NLP and ML (including machine translation) to create robust language models that understand and generate content in African languages accurately and efficiently.
Collaboration: Bringing together a diverse group of experts – including linguists, native speakers, researchers, and academics – to pool knowledge and resources for optimal outcomes.
Community Engagement: Engaging with African languages speakers to ensure that our developments are grounded in the real-world use and evolution of the languages.
Education and Outreach: Establishing educational programs and workshops to spread awareness and knowledge about the importance of linguistic diversity in technology.
