How to use the Engage Africal NLP mobile app<\/strong><\/p>\n In this guide you will learn how to use the app as a translator, volunteer, and validator<\/p>\n Roles<\/strong><\/p>\n – Translators\/Volunteers record translations from one language to another. This could be text to text\u00a0translation or text to speech. Translators need to create an account and login on the app in order to be\u00a0able to translate.<\/p>\n – Validators can approve or disapprove a translation. You also need to be authenticated and be assigned\u00a0a validator in order to mark a translation.<\/p>\n How to sign up and Login<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 From the navigation menu click on \u2018Sign Up\u2019. Fill in your information and click on the Submit button. Make sure you use a valid email here so that you can easy reset your password in case you forget it.<\/p>\n \u2022 After a successful sign up, you will be redirected to the log in page where you can now login.<\/p>\n You can also tap on \u2018I forgot my password\u2019 to reset your password in case you forgot your\u00a0password.<\/p>\n How to record a translation<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 Log into your personal account<\/p>\n \u2022 From the navigation menu click on Build the Tech \u2192 Translate. This will take you to the page where you can record a translation. This screen has two tabs; the first tab is for text to text\u00a0translation, and the second is for text to speech translation.<\/p>\n Text to text translation<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 Text to text translation is the first tab on the Translate Screen. A translation requires the source language and the target language. The source language is the first language while the target is<\/p>\n the second. Next, enter the source sentence or word and its translation. The next step is to click the Submit button. Your translation will be submitted!<\/p>\n Text to speech<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 The tab labeled \u2018Speech\u2019 is for this purpose. You will select the source and target languages.<\/p>\n You will also input the source text and target audio.<\/p>\n How to record an audio<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 Tap on the microphone. This will start the recording. You can record a your translation. Note that you should stop the recording when you have finished recording. This allows you to playback your recording and even replace it if you were not satisfied with your previous\u00a0recording.<\/p>\n View all translations<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 To view all translations, you should navigate to Build the Tech \u2192 Translations. This will take\u00a0you to the page where you can see all translations alongside their upvotes and downvotes<\/p>\n \u2022 Tap a translation to view its details. This will take you to a new screen. On this screen, you can<\/p>\n upvote, downvote and comment on a translation . A validator can also approve or disapprove on a translation. You can also delete a comment you added on this translation. On this screen, there\u00a0is the option to edit or delete a translation if you are the author of the translation.<\/p>\n Edit\/Delete Translation:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 To edit or delete a translation click on the 3 dots on the top right of the screen. The will display\u00a0options for you to either delete or edit translation.<\/p>\n Other useful functionalities<\/strong><\/p>\n 1. Translation requests: This feature enables translators to select sentences to translate from an already provided list of sentences. As a translator, you can use this feature to make your translation task easier for you. You can access this by clicking on the navigation menu: Build\u00a0the Tech \u2192 Translation Requests<\/p>\n 2. Request a Translation: This is the screen where you can add new sentences for translators\/volunteers to translate. Any sentence\/word added here will be included on the\u00a0Translation Requests page for translators to use.<\/p>\n 3. Your Profile: You can view your profile information and make edits. To view your profile, tap Profile on the navigation menu.<\/p>\n 4. Your translation Summary: You can also get a summary of you work by tapping on the\u00a0Details button in the profiles screen.<\/p>\n 5. Dictionary: You can view dictionaries in local langugages by selecting \u2018Dictionary\u2019 from the\u00a0navigation menu. At the moment we have the Ghomala dictionary.<\/p>\n 6. View Edit Profile: To make edits to your profile click on the edit button in the profile screen.<\/p>\n On this screen, you can change your personal information and language preference.<\/p>\n There are some features that will soon be available on the app. These features include\u00a0automatic translation, chatbot and API keys.
